Petros dritsonas "No Name"
”No Name” is a non-representative sculpture, inspired by the land of Skyros. The spectator can distinguish various figures resembling the famous pony horses, a Skyros Island trademark, other bird figures and even boat chimneys.
For the artist, it is very interesting to share with the spectator what they can discover within a piece of art.
Xristiana Lazopoulou "Erotic"
The sculpture represents two stranded figures, looking like hugging or kissing. One figure is geometrical with scabrous texture, and the other part is smooth and curvy, symbolizing opposite notions such as male-female.
The artist was inspired by the harmonic coexistence of the natural contrasts of Skyros Island geology.
Stavros Mavromichalis "No name"
The sculpture follows a spiral form, creating the base of a shell, which whorls are increasing and decreasing in size.
According to the artist, the changes in size symbolize human relationships which can be sometimes peaceful with dominating straight lines, and sometimes turbulent with intense curves.
georgios Moeesee "Diatripti"
In this sculpture, the artist is inspired by Diatripti, a magnificent cave located at the steep coasts of Skyros.
The fluid form that seems swirling represents the perpetual dance of the sea and the mountain, with the wind as catalyst, giving the marble an ethereal sensation.
Altin Patseli "Onar"
The sculpture consists of two forms resembling two drops of water or two woman breasts. The artist was inspired by the notion of fertility and the sea.
It is really worth noticing the successful representation of the power of fluid water, on a solid material such as the marble. It is like two drops of the sea that were instantly petrified.
Dimitris Christogiannakis "Aiolos 'eye"
This sculpture resembles an organic element, an eye or a fish or a shell.
The artist was inspired by the northern part of the island, where the winds of Aeolos blow intensively and created a special three-dimensional form, where various objects of Skyros island are harmonically embodied.

The first Sculpure symposium
in Skyros
(July-August 2006)
Sculpture symposiums take place in many countries of the world and their purpose is to facilitate
• the familiarization and participation of the general public with the artistic process of sculpture creation
• the collaboration of the artistic community with prolific exchange of views and ideas and
• the communication of people through the paths of art.
The first sculpture symposium at Skyros Island took place from the 3rd of July until the 4th of August in 2006. It was an initiative of the ceramist Giannis Kobogiannis and was sponsored by the Municipality of Skyros and the Evia Prefecture.
Mr. Kobogiannis’ Ceramic Art Pottery invited 6 sculptors, graduates of the Athens School of Fine Arts, to familiarize themselves in working with the white Marble of Skyros, in an attempt to promote Skyros Island and its Marbles as a premium fine art material.
Serafeim Marbles proudly sponsored the event by offering premium white marble material for the creation of the sculptures.
